About
Multidisciplinary Researcher
I am a Research Assistant in the Photonics and Optical Communication Group at School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunication, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
Previously, I have completed MS in 2017 from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and BS in 2009 from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, Pakistan. For academic year 14-15, I held positions in Meridian Engineers and Constructor and PTCL as a Network Engineer and Trainee Engineer, respectively.

My research interests lie in the domain of Terahertz Waveguides/Fibers, Special silica optical fibers, 3D Printing & Fabrication, fiber lasers/amplifiers, Optical Communications, Semiconductor lasers & modulators and Mid-IR Fiber Optics. In particular, I have done some work on the sparse channel estimation & equalization and applications of Underwater acoustic communication as well as RFID miniature antennas for defense applications. Currently, I am studying the applications of rare-earth co-doped materials and THz waveguide for the development of active fibers and THz integrated system, respectively for ultra-broadband emission in the Near-IR and THz frequency region, based on additive manufacturing techniques and advanced polymer materials.
